Vietnam and Laos have agreed on five major issues in bilateral sporting cooperation during a current visit to Laos by Vietnamese Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Hoang Tuan Anh.

They are the enhancement of cooperation in culture, sports and tourism between border provinces, development of athletes for the 26 th Southeast Asian Games in Indonesia, organisation of national sports games and sports competitions between the two countries, upgrade of the national sport training centre into the national sports and physical training school, and enhancement of cooperation between the two National Olympic Committees.

During their meeting in Vientiane on Sept. 2, Vietnamese Minister Anh and Lao Minister of Education and Sports Phankham Viphavan said that boosting cooperation in sports will make a practical contribution to developing the special relations between the two countries.

They expressed their pleasure with the effectiveness of the two ministries’ cooperation with the exchange of delegations, organisation of sporting competitions and experience sharing. Vietnam also sent experts to help Lao sports and received Lao sports teams for training.

Minister Phankham Viphavan highly valued Vietnam ’s assistance to Lao sports, especially the successful organisation of the 25 th SEA Games in Laos. /.
