Thua Thien-Hue (VNA) – Leaders of the central province of Thua Thien-Hue and Laos’ Savannakhet province have agreed to further strengthen bilateral links, especially in tourism and education.

During their working session in the Vietnamese locality on August 9, the two sides reviewed the results of their recent connection and discussed orientations to promote the implementation of signed cooperation programmes.

Thua Thien-Hue and Savannakhet have cooperated in tourism promotion, focusing on measures to increase the number of tourists along the East-West Economic Corridor.

Regarding education links, Thua Thien-Hue has trained the Vietnamese language for 173 students from Savannakhet over the last 14 years.

Additionally, the province has also offered Vietnamese language courses for 850 students from other Lao localities. In 2015 alone, it spent over 5 billion VND (224,200 USD) on training Lao students.

The Hue University and the Savannakhet University signed an agreement on education cooperation, aiming to boost human resources training in the two localities, and promote experience sharing and cooperation programmes in the field.

In the time ahead, the two provinces will bolster links in many other fields such as industry, trade promotion, tourism, agriculture and labour, and cultural exchange.-VNA
