Singapore (VNA) – The Vietnam Students in Singapore Association organised a beauty contest on December 10 to select a representative for its charity work in the host nation.

Luu Phuong Linh from the East Asia Institute of Management rose above nine other candidates to win the first prize after competing in three categories of ao dai (Vietnamese traditional dress), talent and improvisation.

All proceeds from ticket sales and the cash prize of 1,000 SGD were donated to Singapore’s Rare Disorders Society (RDSS) – a non-profit organisation initiated by parents of children with LSD (Lysosomal Storage Disorder), aiming to create awareness about various life threatening rare diseases (RD).

There are currently 10,000 Vietnamese students studying in Singapore. They have contributed significantly to strengthening the strategic partnership between the two nations.-VNA
