The number of Vietnamese students in Russia is forecast to grow sharply in the coming time as a result of a new agreement on bilateral training cooperation signed during Russian President Vladimir Putin’s recent visit to Vietnam .

According to the Voice of Russia, around 6,000 Vietnamese students are pursuing higher education in Russia , including 2,000 benefiting intergovernmental agreements.

Vietnamese students are learning at six Russian universities. The Tula State University (TSU) alone is home to about 180 students from Vietnam , which tops the list of 55 nations sending students to learn there.

The Government of Russia is likely to double its current 500 scholarships for Vietnamese.

In addition to actively engaging in sports and art activities, many Vietnamese students have won prizes at physics, chemistry, maths and informatics Olympiads in the country, commented Russian educationalists./.
