Vietnamese youth with the cause of preserving and promoting traditional cultural values in the country’s renewal and integration process was the theme of a seminar in Hanoi on April 14.

The seminar was part of the first festival for young people from ethnic minorities, which opened in the Culture-Tourism Village of Vietnamese Ethnic Groups on the same day to honour the Cultural Day for Vietnamese Ethnic Minorities (April 19) and respond to the Youth Year 2011.

Speaking at the event, Nguyen Phuoc Loc, President of the Vietnam Youth Federation, stressed that Vietnamese youth are the successors of cultural heritages who follow closely national cultural traditions and absorb selectively humankind’s cultural values and civilisation to build and develop the national culture.

Young ethnic minority people from all regions in the country exchanged experiences in effectively preserving and developing the nation’s traditional cultural values such as the gong culture of the Central Highlands ethnic groups, the sli songs of the Nung and the luon songs of the Tay .

On the occasion, the festival’s organising board launched a campaign to encourage young people nationwide to donate artifacts, utensils and instruments to the Culture-Tourism Village of Vietnamese Ethnic Groups./.
