The Germany Federal Statistical Office has predicted a strong rise in bilateral trade between Germany and Vietnam this year.

Two-way trade value has risen more than 30 percent year on year to over 3.8 billion USD by August this year, of which 2.5 billion USD came from Vietnam’s exports, said the office.

According to councillor of commerce Nguyen Minh Dung at the Vietnamese Embassy in Germany, bilateral trade value is estimated at more than 5.7 billion USD this year, 1 billion USD more than last year’s figure, with Vietnam’s exports to Germany expected to reach 3.7 billion USD.

The increase is attributable to Germany’s recovery from the aftermaths of the global financial and economic downturn, said the Vietnamese trade official.

Germany is the biggest European trade partner of Vietnam, said Dung, adding that Vietnam exports footwear, garment and textiles, coffee beans, wood furniture and seafood to Germany./.
