Voters nationwide have praised Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s national January – May report and showed their happiness at the performances of the four ministers and sector chief quizzed during a National Assembly (NA) Q & A session.

Voter Tran Manh Long, Vice President of the War Veterans’ Association of Central Highlands Kon Tum province applauded the Government’s solutions to the East Sea issue, saying that Vietnam should hold more contact with other countries and provide sufficient evidence so that the world understands clearly about China’s violation of Vietnam’s sovereignty.

The Government’s measures to support fishermen as well as coast guard and fisheries surveillance forces have also created a trust among people, he said.

Voters in northeastern Quang Ninh province also expressed their concurrence with the Government’s determination to resolutely struggle against China ’s wrongful acts, particularly its illegal placement of the oil rig Haiyang Shiyou-981 in Vietnam ’s exclusive economic zone and continental shelf.

Lawyer Hoang Quoc Huy from Cam Pha city suggested the Government consider bringing the case to an international court to ask for justice and protect the country’s sea and island sovereignty.

Hoang Duc Hung, General Director of the Van Hai Viglacera Joint Stock Company, spoke highly of the Government’s efforts to speed up economic restructuring, improve the competitiveness of the economy and seek new markets in order to avoid overdependence on any certain market, particularly China .

Quang Ninh voters also praised the Government’s timely responses to recent disturbances that caused damage to foreign invested businesses in some localities, saying that they reinforced investors’ confidence.

Meanwhile, voters in Ho Chi Minh City said they are pleased with the Government’s socio-economic development policies in the first five months of this year.

The Government has effectively monitored monetary and financial policies through the synchronous implementation of stimulus packages, especially for the real estate market, said Dr. Tran Anh Tuan from the HCM City Development Research Institute.

In the second half of the year, the Government should continue policies to attract more foreign investment while assisting domestic businesses in accessing new partners and markets, he said.

He also emphasised the necessity of policies supporting fishermen, such as helping them build high-capacity ships equipped with communication devices in order to ensure that they can operate safely in the country’s waters.

Regarding the Q&A session, NA deputies said questions raised for the four ministers and sector chief during the two and a half days, broadcast live on television, lived up to voters’ expectations.

Their answers reflected a determination to address emerging issues facomg the country, especially in education, said deputy Truong Minh Hoang from Ho Chi Minh City .

According to deputy Ha Minh Hue from central Binh Thuan province, issues raised by the NA deputies are very important for the country’s socio-economic and cultural development, especially shortcomings that need to be fixed.

Those grilled by the NA deputies were Finance Minister Dinh Tien Dung, Education Minister Pham Vu Luan, Justice Minister Ha Hung Cuong and Government Chief Inspector Huynh Phong Tranh.-VNA
