The upcoming World Economic Forum on East Asia 2012 (WEF) scheduled for May 30-June 1 in Bangkok , Thailand , is expected to draw about 700 people.

The Presidents of Indonesia and Myanmar as well as the Prime Ministers of Laos and Bahrain have so far confirmed their attendance, Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Thani Thongpakdi has unveiled.

Others attendees of the event will include ministers and leading representatives from the private sector and international press, he said.

Thailand ’s preparations for the event is already seeing a 95 percent in both meeting protocol and security, he added.

The WEF on East Asia 2012 will focus on creating regional cooperation by adapting ASEAN’s regional connectivity to other regions of the world as well as discussing measures to handle other challenges.

It will also look at the establishment of a transport system and a regional economic corridor to link the countries within the region.

Having been chosen to play host to the WEF on East Asia 2012 meeting is certainly a reflection of foreign confidence in Thailand ’s situation after the flood crisis which occurred late last year.-VNA
