Athletes from 22 countries worldwide will compete in the second World Vovinam Championship that will take place in Ho Chi Minh City from July 28-31.

This information was announced at a press conference, jointly hosted by the Vietnam Vovinam Federation, the General Department of Physical Training and Sports, and the municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in Ho Chi Minh City on July 21.

The martial artists will compete for 80 sets of medals in 18 fighting events and 22 Kata performance events in both men and women’s categories.

Le Quoc An, Vice President of the World Vovinam Federation, said that the event aims to develop the traditional Vietnamese martial art, raise the country’s prestige in the international arena as well as serves as preparations for the upcoming tournaments in Asia and Europe, especially the 26 th SEA Games in Indonesia./.
