The Vietnam-Japan Friendship Association has declared that it will help people in the southern province of An Giang to learn more about Japan’s land and people and boost the province’s development.

The commitment was made at a congress on November 8 held by the Association’s An Giang Chapter.

The congress, the second tenure of its kind, saw the attendance of representatives of the provincial leaders, departments, friendship organisations and 35 association members.

The agency is also helping its members - mostly students, businesses and Vietnamese people living in Japan - to learn the Japanese language.

Over its last tenure, the association actively promoted cooperation between the province’s friendship agencies and Japanese non-governmental organisations, bringing the two peoples closer together.

An Giang and Japan have enjoyed cooperative ties since 1997. The Japan International Cooperation Agency has supported the province in some 20 projects worth 31 billion VND on healthcare, education, energy, water, environmental hygiene and personnel training.-VNA
