Hanoi (VNA) - The following is a brief review of the day’s events as reported by the Vietnam News Agency.

- Leaders and former leaders of the Party, State, Government, National Assembly (NA), and Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) paid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum in Hanoi on April 26 on the occasion of the 49th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975-2024).

Prominent among them were Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, and NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue, Permanent member of the Party Central Committee's Secretariat and Chairwoman of its Organisation Commission Truong Thi Mai, President of the VFF Central Committee Do Van Chien, and Acting State President Vo Thi Anh Xuan. Read full story

- State capital and private resources both play an important role in meeting financial needs for development and implementation of the sustainable development goals (SDGs), Minister Counsellor Nguyen Hoang Nguyen told the 2024 ECOSOC Financing for Development (FfD) Forum, held in New York from April 22-25.

Nguyen, who is also Chargé d’Affaires of the Permanent Delegation of Vietnam to the United Nations, emphasised the importance of North-South and South-South cooperation, trilateral and quadrilateral cooperation models to share experience, technology, and capital for Southern countries to implement the Agenda 2030 on sustainable development. Read full story

– Vietnamese airlines are expected to operate 9,000 flights on domestic routes to meet the travel demand during the upcoming National Reunification Day (April 30) and May Day (May 1) holidays, according to the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV).

During April 26 – May 2, the number of daily takeoffs and landings will increase 16.5% compared to the average of normal days in April to 1,285, equivalent to 98% of the figure reported in the same period last year. Read full story
