- Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang on April 17 paidfloral tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his monument in Caracas capitalcity, the first activity of his three-day official visit to Venezuela.

Speaking at the event, the Deputy PM recalled thelate President’s diplomatic viewpoint, in which he attached importance torelations with Latin American nations, adding that the President’s monument inCaracas shows his reputation and stature, as well as Venezuelan people’srespect and love for him. Read full story

- Seventy years ago, Vietnam won the Dien Bien Phu battle,forcing the French government to sign the Geneva Agreement in July 1954 andmarking the end of the French military presence in the whole Indochina.

The historic victory echoes vividly these days asthe nation is celebrating 70 years of the heroic fighting which was chalked upby patriotism, thirst for independence, great leadership, and internationalsupport. Read full story

-  Vietnam is one of the leading countries in Asia interms of investment for infrastructure development, allocating 5.7% of itsGross Domestic Product (GDP) to projects in this field, said Ambassador DangHoang Giang, Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the United Nations (UN).

- A representative of Vietnam has affirmed the youth’scommitment to joining hands in climate change response, while attending aplenary session of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Youth Forumin New York on April 17.

Addressing the event, Nguyen Ngoc Luong, PermanentSecretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCYU) Central Committee andPresident of the Vietnam Youth Federation (VYF), said climate change is aglobal issue with increasing impact that requires better awareness and joint actionby the whole world to resolve, and the youth have a crucial role to play inthis regard to help with sustainable development in the future. Read full story

- The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has forecasted thatVietnam will have many opportunities from digitalisation and greentransformation, according to IMF Asia and Pacific Department DirectorKrishna Srinivasan.

Addressing a press conference on the RegionalEconomic Outlook for Asia and Pacific in Washington D. C on April 18,Srinivasan said Vietnam’s economic growth is likely to expand by about 6.5%based on numerous potentials, significant foreign direct investment, andongoing efforts to improve the business environment andinfrastructure. Read full story

- The amended Land Law, approved by the National Assembly inJanuary 2024, is expected to exert impacts on the business activities ofoverseas Vietnamese (OVs), including those in Australia., said a lawyer.

Lawyer Do Gia Thang, a founder of Nguyen DoLawyers, an Australian and Vietnamese law firm based in Melbourne city, pointedto differences between the present law and its revised version, scheduled to beput in place from January 1, 2025, with no distinction between individuals athome and Vietnamese residing abroad in the right to land access.Read full story

In the coming days, the MoFA will continue to work closely with the An Giang provincial People’s Committee, the Phu Quoc Special Zone, relevant agencies, the Vietnamese Embassy in India, the Embassy of India in Hanoi and the Consulate General of India in Ho Chi Minh City to closely monitor the situation, carry out consular and citizen protection work, and repatriate the bodies of the deceased tourists to India in accordance with the wishes of their families as soon as possible.

Vietnam seeks stronger economic links with Egypt's Red Sea Governorate

Beyond traditional exports, there remains considerable room to expand bilateral trade. Vietnam has potential to increase exports of tea, rice, frozen shrimp, machinery and electrical equipment, while Egypt could boost shipments of citrus fruits, grapes, fertilisers and, in particular, phosphate ore.

Vietnam reaffirms goodwill in adhering to 1982 UNCLOS

Vietnam’s clear and consistent stance is that maritime disputes must be resolved through peaceful means, with respect for diplomatic and legal processes, without the use or threat of force, and in accordance with international law, particularly the 1982 UNCLOS

Vietnam, Belgium boost parliamentary cooperation, deepen bilateral relations

Toi called on the Belgian Senate to continue supporting stronger Vietnam-EU relations, including the effective implementation of the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), the ratification of the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA), and promoting the European Commission's early removal of its "yellow card" warning against Vietnamese seafood exports, in recognition of Vietnam's efforts to improve its legal framework and promote sustainable fisheries management.

Senior military officer inspects martyrs’ remains search at Le Thị Rieng Park

Nghia described the ongoing 500-day campaign as a sacred mission that embodies the Vietnamese tradition of remembering those who served and sacrificed for the nation. The current generation, he said, must spare no effort in carrying out the Party’s policy and fulfilling the aspirations of the people, particularly the families of the fallen.

PM calls for building elite, professional international search and rescue force

During its mission from June 29 to July 7, the team worked around the clock under extremely hazardous conditions amid heavily damaged and contaminated disaster zones. Despite the challenges, rescue personnel recovered 57 victims' bodies and handed them over to local authorities and families. They also identified and reported several suspected locations where additional victims might be trapped.

📝 OP-ED: Respect for history, gratitude a lasting cultural value of Vietnamese people

In Vietnamese cultural life, gratitude toward preceding generations has long been preserved as an integral part of the nation's identity. This tradition is reflected in ancestor worship practiced in families, the Worship of the Hung Kings, village deities, national heroes and eminent cultural figures, as well as tributes to generations who sacrificed their lives for the nation's independence and freedom.

Border community twinning strengthens Vietnam–Laos friendship

Over the past decade, the twinning relationship between Thuy Phong village in Nghe An’s Kim Bang commune, and Xop Tuong village in Nam On commune, Xaychamphone district, Bolikhamxay province of Laos, has become a model for fostering a shared border of peace, friendship and cooperation.
