Hanoi (VNA) - The following is a list of selected news summaries reported last night by the Vietnam News Agency.

- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s attendance at the 8th Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Summit, the 10th Ayeyawady - Chao Phraya - Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS) Summit, and the 11th Cambodia-Laos-Myanmar-Vietnam (CLMV) Cooperation Summit aims to send out important messages to the sub-region, the region, as well as the international community, stated Deputy Foreign Minister Pham Thanh Binh.

The first message will be the upgrading of the sub-regional cooperation. Amid the evolving global economy and green transition, digital transformation, and sustainable and inclusive development, the Mekong sub-region needs to take major steps to meet the new development demands, Binh held. - Vietnam values its relationship with Canada and hopes to work together to strengthen their comprehensive partnership for mutual benefit, contributing to peace, stability, and prosperity in the Asia-Pacific and globally, National Assembly Vice Chairman Nguyen Duc Hai told Canadian Ambassador to Vietnam Perry Shawn Steil.

At a reception in Hanoi on November 4, Hai welcomed Canada’s policy of enhancing engagement with the region and the world, as well as its new Indo-Pacific strategy, which underlines the importance of ASEAN's central role. Read full story

- Vietnam is expected to be among the top three Southeast Asian countries in terms of industrial competitiveness by the end of this decade, as outlined in an action programme issued by the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) this week.

- The Namdong National Industrial Complex in the Republic of Korea (RoK)’s Incheon city on November 4 announced the establishment of a 15-company market research group to support local small and medium-sized cosmetics firms to break into Vietnam, one of the most dynamic markets in the ASEAN region.

According to the RoK Ministry of SMEs and Startups, the East Asian country gained 1.7 billion USD from cosmetics export in Quarter 3, recording the largest year-on-year growth among its top 10 export categories. Notably, SMEs now account for over 65% of the nation’s total cosmetics shipments./. Read full story
