Hanoi (VNA) - The following is a list of selected news summaries reported last night by the Vietnam News Agency.

- Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his Qatari counterpart Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani held talks in Doha on October 31, in which they agreed that the bilateral relations will be elevated to a new height in the near future.

At the talks following the official welcome ceremony for the Vietnamese leader, the Qatari PM said the guest’s official visit is an important milestone, creating momentum for the two countries’ friendship and multifaceted cooperation to enter a new period of more intensive and extensive development. - Vietnam views the US as a strategically important partner and aims to join the US in deepening their comprehensive strategic partnership based on mutual respect for each other's independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and political systems, said Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha.

- General Nguyen Tan Cuong, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army (VPA) and Deputy Minister of National Defence, on October 31 received heads of ASEAN delegations who attended the first ASEAN Military Intelligence Community Leaders' Conference (AMICLC-1) in Hanoi.

At the reception, Cuong emphasised that the world and regional security environment is undergoing rapid, strong, and unpredictable changes. - Vietnam strongly opposes all activities that violate its sovereignty over Hoang Sa (Paracel), Deputy Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Doan Khac Viet affirmed at the ministry’s regular press conference on October 31.

- The US Department of Commerce (DOC) will not impose anti-dumping duties on aluminum extrusions imported from 14 countries and territories, including Vietnam, according to the Trade Remedies Authority of Vietnam under the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

This came after the US International Trade Commission (ITC) on October 30 released its final decision on an anti-dumping investigation concerning aluminum extrusions imported from China, Colombia, Ecuador, India, Indonesia, Italy, Malaysia, Mexico, the Republic of Korea, Taiwan (China), Thailand, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates and Vietnam./.
