- Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jasim Al-Thani hosted a welcome ceremony in Doha on October 31 for his Vietnamese counterpart Pham Minh Chinh, who is paying an official visit to Qatar.

- The 2024 International Exhibition for Integrated Circuit and Semiconductor Industry (SEMICON VIETNAM), the first of its kind in the country, was opened in Ho Chi Minh City on October 31.
The three-day expo features 150 stalls showcasing a wide range of products in the fields of semiconductor design and testing as well as the cutting, engraving, and surface treatment of circuit boards, among others. Read full story
- Ho Chi Minh City is set to embark on 2025 with the City Tet Fest Thu Duc that lasts from December 28 to January 1, 2025.

- Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang, Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the United Nations (UN), has called on the UN Security Council to stay united and intensify efforts to ease tensions and end hostilities in the entire Middle East.
Addressing the council’s open debate themed “The situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian question” held on October 29-30 in New York, Giang noted that the efforts of the international community over the past year have not been sufficient to bring peace to Gaza and prevent the conflicts from spreading. - Vietnam calls on the US to immediately end its embargo against and remove Cuba from the list of state sponsors of terrorism, moving towards normalising relations between the two countries based on equality, mutual respect, and respect for each other's national sovereignty and political independence, stated Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang, Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the UN.
Speaking at the 79th UN General Assembly’s session “Necessity of ending the economic, commercial and financial embargo imposed by the United States of America against Cuba” held in New York on October 29-30, Giang affirmed that Vietnam is ready to contribute to promoting dialogue and building trust in this process. - Over 10 billion VND (395,600 USD) was donated to a programme on replacing temporary and dilapidated houses in the Mekong Delta province of Hau Giang at the provincial People’s Council’s 22nd session on October 31.
The Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank) and the Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Agribank) contributed 5 billion VND each. Standing members of the provincial Party Committee, and the Chairpersons of the provincial People’s Council and People’s Committee donated over 60 million VND. Read full story

- With the current rising trend, trade between Vietnam and the Philippines is likely to exceed 8 billion USD for the first time to hit about 8.5 billion USD in 2024, with Vietnam’s surplus of more than 3 billion USD, according to the Vietnamese Trade Office in the Philippines.
The office said that in the first nine months of this year, import-export turnover between the two countries neared 6.5 billion USD, a rise of over 20% year on year, with Vietnam’s exports increasing 20.7%. Read full story
- With swift production recovery and continued growth, Vietnam's agricultural sector could potentially surpass the 60 billion USD export target, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).
In its report, the ministry said that the first nine months of this year saw farm produce exports reach 46.28 billion USD, a 21% year-on-year increase. The sector also achieved a trade surplus of 13.9 billion USD, up 71.2% from 2023, contributing 66.8% of the nation’s total trade surplus. Read full story
