Hanoi (VNA) - The following is a brief review of the day’s events as reported by the Vietnam News Agency.

- Vice President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan hosted an official welcome ceremony with a 21-cannon salute at the Presidential Palace in Abu Dhabi on October 28 morning (local time) for Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, his spouse and a high-ranking delegation of Vietnam.

PM Chinh, his spouse and the high-ranking delegation of Vietnam are paying an official visit to the UAE at the invitation of President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Read full story

- UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Priority Africa and External Relations Firmin Edouard Matoko on October 28 applauded the northern province of Ninh Binh for its determination, commitment and direction in preserving and promoting the value of Trang An heritage site.

Speaking at a meeting with the Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, Doan Minh Huan, the official who is leading a UNESCO delegation on an official visit to Vietnam from October 25-30, affirmed that UNESCO will always accompany the locality in preserving and promoting heritage values. - A ceremony was held in Sam Son city in the north-central province of Thanh Hoa on October 27 to mark 70 years since the welcome of compatriots, cadres, soldiers, and students from the South gathering in the North (1954 - 2024).

Addressing the event, Nguyen Trong Nghia, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Chairman of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Information and Education, lauded the sentiments of people in the North, including Thanh Hoa, towards compatriots, cadres, soldiers, and students from the South, a demonstration of the truth that “the North and the South share the same home” and “Vietnam is one country, the Vietnamese are one nation”. - Localities in the central region have been taking actions in response to impacts of Storm Trami which made landfall in the early afternoon of October 27.

The sixth to hit the East Sea this year has taken its toll on various localities, according to the Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention and Control under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. Read full story

- National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines launched a direct route between Hanoi and Phnom Penh, Cambodia on October 27, with a schedule of four flights per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

The route will offer a new option for passengers in addition to the current four between Vietnam and Cambodia, including Ho Chi Minh City - Phnom Penh; Hanoi, and Ho Chi Minh City - Siem Reap, and one trans-Indochina route. The total number of flights between the two countries will also increase to 86 flights per week. Read full story

- Vietnam remained Singapore's 5th largest exporter of aquatic products for three straight quarters, the Vietnam Trade Office in the city-state has said.

Statistics from the Singaporean Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority showed that during January-September, the country imported nearly 839.1 million SGD (635.24 million USD) worth of aquatic products from nearly 100 countries and territories, a decrease of 4.51% from the same period in 2023. - Vietnam’s national pavilion at the High Point Market fair in North Carolina, the US, was inaugurated on October 26.
