Hau Giang: Nearly 400,000 USD donated to do away with dilapidated houses

Over 10 billion VND (395,600 USD) was donated to a programme on replacing temporary and dilapidated houses in the Mekong Delta province of Hau Giang at the provincial People’s Council’s 22nd session on October 31.

Hau Giang (VNA) – Over 10 billion VND (395,600 USD) was donated to a programme on replacing temporary and dilapidated houses in the Mekong Delta province of Hau Giang at the provincial People’s Council’s 22nd session on October 31.

The Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank) and the Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Agribank) contributed 5 billion VND each. Standing members of the provincial Party Committee, and the Chairpersons of the provincial People’s Council and People’s Committee donated over 60 million VND.

Tran Van Chinh, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee in Hau Giang, said that the agency is coordinating with various units to account makeshift and dilapidated houses to develop an effective implementation plan.

As of mid-June, the province had over 6,600 poor households, or 3.29% of the total population. It is striving to further reduce the poverty rate by 2% by the end of this year./.
