After more than one year of implementation, the nationwide programme to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses has been basically completed, achieving its goal five years and four months ahead of schedule.
Looking ahead, Lam Dong will continue to mobilise resources through the provincial “For the Poor” Fund, socialised contributions from corporations, businesses, philanthropists, organisations and individuals to provide housing support for poor and near-poor households and those in difficult circumstances, helping them stabilise their lives.
This accomplishment is considered a milestone in sustainable poverty reduction — a “special national project” embodying the Party’s will and people’s hearts, as well as the spirit of solidarity and compassion among compatriots, carrying profound political, social, and humanitarian significance.
In addition to the planned houses, localities also mobilised resources to build nearly 472 “Great solidarity” houses through other socialised sources.
Over the past three months, the province completed the construction of 579 houses, beating the timeline set by the provincial steering committee for eliminating substandard houses by 45 days.
After more than three months, Dong Thap completed the construction and repair of 2,159 houses, fulfilling 100% of its plan.
As of June 22, 2025, a total of 262,843 temporary and dilapidated houses had been eliminated nationwide, reaching 94.7% of the set target.
With strong support from local authorities, businesses, organisations, and residents, the province has successfully built or repaired 10,707 homes for disadvantaged households, including war veterans, families of martyrs, ethnic minority people, and low-income residents.

Local officials are required to strengthen on-the-ground inspections and take prompt action to address any signs of stagnation or lack of accountability in executing the campaign. They are also tasked with completing administrative procedures to ensure timely disbursement of financial support to eligible households, avoiding overlap or omission in beneficiary identification.
As part of this programme, a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of 22 new homes for impoverished families in Tay Ninh’s border region took place on March 29. It is spearheaded by the Fund for the Poor of Tan Chau district, in collaboration with Hung Nhon Group, De Heus Group of Netherlands, and Tay Ninh’s National Assembly delegation.

According to the Ministry of Ethnic and Religious Affairs, 54 centrally-run cities and provinces approved plans to do away with substandard houses as of March 16.
The northern province of Thai Binh is striving to eliminate all temporary and dilapidated houses by June 30, 90 days ahead of its initial schedule.
Local authorities have identified 795 homes of poor and near-poor households and individuals with recognised service to the nation that qualify for support. Of these, 475 require complete reconstruction and 320 need significant repairs, with estimated costs totaling 39 billion VND (1.53 million USD).
