- Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh held meetings in Riyadh on October 30 with leaders of Saudi Arabia’s major enterprises to promote investment cooperation, on the occasion of his attendance at the 8th Future Investment Initiative (FII) Summit and his working visit to the Middle East country.
Working with Abdulla Mohammed Al Zamil, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Zamil Industrial Investment Company (Zamil Industrial) under Zamil Group, Saudi Arabia's largest industrial investment group with presence in 60 countries around the world, Chinh suggested that, alongside expanding production, the group should continue to diversify its products, supply chains, and distribution networks; and promote the application of science and technology, and digital transformation for green production, clean manufacturing, environmental protection, and sustainable development. – Vietnamese Ambassador to Qatar Nguyen Huy Hiep has shared insights on the significance of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s official visit to Qatar from October 30 to November 1 and the promising future of the bilateral relations.
Talking with the Vietnam News Agency's correspondent based in the Middle East – North Africa, Hiep said this is the first visit by a Vietnamese PM to the Middle Eastern nation in 15 years. Read full story
– National Assembly (NA) deputies on October 30 morning discussed a bill which is built to remove difficulties in planning, and implementing business investment activities and bidding as part of the legislature's 8th session.
The lawmakers listened to a report on the draft Law on amendments and supplements to several articles of the Planning Law, the Law on Investment, the Law on Investment in the Form of Public-Private Partnership, and the Law on Bidding presented by Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung. – A scientific workshop on innovation and human resources development in the semiconductor industry opened in Fukuoka city, Japan on October 29, marking a significant milestone in Vietnam-Japan cooperation in this field.
Jointly organised by the Vietnamese Consulate General in Fukuoka, the Kyushu University Institute for Advanced Study, and the Human Resources Development & Employment Organization (HuReDee) in Japan, the two-day event sees 150 delegates taking part in-person and other 200 online. Read full story
– The Vietnam International Electronics and Smart Appliances Expo (IEAE) 2024 opened in Hanoi on October 30.
Covering 6,000 sq.m, the IEAE exhibition brought together over 260 exhibitors from China and Vietnam, presenting advanced technologies and innovative products. – The Vietnam 2024 Asian Open Police Taekwondo Championships will take place in the northeastern province of Quang Ninh from December 6-9, the Ministry of Public Security announced on October 29.
The tournament aims to celebrate the the 80th anniversary of the traditional day of the Vietnam People's Public Security forces (August 19, 1945 - 2025) and the 20th anniversary of the Day of All People Safeguarding National Security (August 19, 1945 - 2025). Read full story
- Digital transactions at many commercial banks have reached a rate of 97-98%, with the banking sector maintaining annual double-digit increases in both transaction volume and value, said Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam Pham Tien Dung at a recent workshop.
At the Smart Banking 2024 workshop and exhibition held in Hanoi on October 29, Dung noted that a legal framework has been in place to facilitate the industry’s technological adoption. Notably, from October 1, banks allow account openings using chip-enabled citizen ID cards and fully implement online lending and guarantees.
