State President Truong Tan Sang has sent a letter to children nationwide on the occasion of the mid-Autumn festival which falls on Sept. 12, expressing his love to them.

“On this occasion, I would like to extend my best regards to children both in side and outside the country as well as foreign children living in Vietnam . I wish you enjoy a cheerful mid-Autumn festival full of love,” the President said in his letter on Sept. 8.

He also said he was very pleased that children nationwide have tried their best study and exercises, and participation in environmental protection activities in the past school year, particularly many children from poor families in remote, border, island areas with difficult circumstances, have worked hard to become good sons and daughters and good students at school.

Also the same day, President Sang met and presented gifts to a delegation of children from the Truong Sa island district of Khanh Hoa province and Da Nang coastal area and those born of naval and border soldiers and sea policemen.

The children have been invited to attend a special mid-Autumn fest toward in Hanoi together with Hanoi children.

Leaders of the Party, State and the Ministry of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs will attend mid-Autumn celebrations and present gifts to children in Hanoi , and Bac Giang, Hai Duong, Quang Nam and Kon Tum provinces.

The Vietnam Children Support Fund said it mobilised nearly 1.2 billion VND in cash and in kind to present gifts to about 4,000 children with difficult circumstances, disabled children in 27 provinces and cities nationwide.

Apart from mobilising all sources for kids with difficulties, the fund’s chapters in provinces continue to implement such activities as surgeries for disabled children, provision of wheelchairs, scholarships, construction of classrooms and entertainment sites./.
