The Indonesian Embassy in Vietnam held a ceremony in Hanoi on September 30 to commemorate the 70th Independence Day of the country (August 17) and the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Indonesia (December 30).

Speaking at the event, Indonesian Ambassador to Vietnam Mayerfas highlighted that the two nations have joined hands in the cause of safeguarding regional peace and security as well as realising economic goals, bringing prosperity for their people.

He stated that the establishment of strategic partnership between the two countries has deepened not only bilateral affiliation but also the bond in the ASEAN family.

On behalf of the Vietnamese government and people, Minister of Finance Dinh Tien Dung expressed his delight over achievements that Indonesia has gained in the past seven decades while hoping that Indonesia will continue to contribute to regional and global sustainable development and cooperation.

Vietnam and Indonesia have close relations with a line-up of similarities in culture and language as well as common benefits in the region, Minister Dung underscored, adding that since two nations established strategic partnership in 2013, Indonesia has become one of the largest investors in Vietnam with 41 projects worth over 382 million USD.

The two sides are also striving to boost cooperation in fields of great potentials such as defence, agriculture, industry, aquaculture, energy, education and tourism.

The minister said he strongly believes that Indonesia’s development and the sound relations of the two countries will bring great benefits to two peoples and make contribution to regional peace, prosperity and development.

On this occasion, the Indonesian Embassy made public a book on Vietnam- Indonesia strategic partnership.-VNA
