Hanoi (VNA) – Lawmakers have hailed the first session of the 14th National Assembly, which concluded in Hanoi on July 29, as a success.

Deputy Bui Van Cuong from the Central Highlands province of Gia Lai said the session was thoroughly prepared by the NA Standing Committee, the NA Ethnic Council and the NA’s committees.

Speaking highly of personnel work for the new legislature, he said elected candidates are deserving of the expectations of voters nationwide as well as lawmakers.

Apart from personnel work, he also lauded preparations for the programmes on law building and ordinances, and the NA’s supervisory activities for 2017 as well as the establishment of specialised inspection groups, and a report on socio-economic performance, among others.

He expressed his belief that the 14th NA could do more during its tenure.

Deputy Nguyen Thanh Xuan from the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho hoped that the new legislature will continue making changes to the next sessions, from directing discussions to closely implementing supervision programmes.-VNA
