Ho Chi Minh City (VNA) – The main round of the Vietnam Open 2016 tournament, part of the ATP Challenger Tour 2016, began on October 10 with the participation of 32 players from 20 countries and territories.

In the opening match on October 10, Soeda Go of Japan beat Indonesia’s Rungkat Christopher.

The host country’s Ly Hoang Nam will play against Maxime Tabatruong of France while Nguyen Hoang Thien is to take on Sekiguchi Shuichi of Japan on October 11.

The tournament sees the participation of players in the top 55 of the ATP Challenger Rankings.

Prize money at the tournament totals 50,000 USD and winners of both singles and doubles titles will receive 90 bonus points.

Earlier in the qualification round, Prashanth N Vijay Sundar, Singh Sanan of India, Sekiguchi Shuichi of Japan and Rochette Laurent of France beat 50 other players to qualify for the main round.

Twenty eight other players received wild cards to the main round.-VNA
