Bangkok (VNA) – The Thai Government is setting up a reconciliation panel which consists of generals and experts to find a common ground between political factions ahead of elections.

The panel members will spend three months listening to views of political parties and topics concerning politics, reform or education, said General Chaichan Changmongkol, head of the panel.

He added that the panel will then come up with an agreement that all sides will sign to ensure a peaceful transition.

Meanwhile, main political parties in Thailand said they are open to reconciliation if it was done fairly.

The reconciliation process must be neutral, fair and according to law, said former Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra.-VNA
