Officials from the National Assemblies of Vietnam and Laos exchanged experience in organising a General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) during their meeting in Vientiane, Laos on August 12.

Vice Chairman of the Vietnam NA’s External Relations Committee Nguyen Manh Tien shared with Laos its wide-ranging knowledge in holding an AIPA General Assembly, from preparing an agenda to dealing with protocol and logistic issues.

Tien said he hopes that Laos will host the upcoming 35th AIPA General Assembly successfully.

Vice Chairman of the Lao NA Saysomphon Phomvihan spoke highly of Vietnam’s precious experience, expressing his belief that it will help Laos make AIPA-35 a great success.

AIPA was formed at the initiative of Indonesia to contribute to the attainment of the goals and aspirations of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) through the inter-parliamentary cooperation.

The 34th General Assembly of AIPA was hosted by Brunei in 2013.-VNA
