Vietnamese, Lao PMs declare to ratchet up ties
The Prime Ministers of Vietnam and Laos reached a high consensus on the work to continue cementing, maintaining, and ratcheting up special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation.
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc (R) and Lao counterpart Thongloun Sisoulith (Photo: VNA)At the meeting, which took place on the sidelines of the 11th Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) Summit, Prime Ministers Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Thongloun Sisoulith agreed to continually implement agreements reached at annual high-level meetings and high-ranking visits.
PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc said Vietnam will work together with Laos in unblocking obstacles facing Vietnamese investment projects in Laos so they can quickly work to aid the host country’s national development.
He also proposed relevant ministries and agencies of the two countries discuss a plan to encourage Japan’s participation in the building of the Vientiane-Thanh Thuy-Hanoi Expressway.
PM Thongloun Sisoulith assured that the Lao Government will work together with the Vietnamese counterpart to ensure Vietnamese-invested projects in Laos will be carried out efficiently.
While speaking highly of Laos’s role as the Chair of ASEAN in 2016, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc expressed his hope that the two countries will collaborate closely with each other and with other ASEAN member states to ensure ASEAN has a single voice in regional issues, especially the East Sea issue.
On the occasion, PM Thongloun Sisoulith invited PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc to visit Laos. As the invitation was delightedly accepted, both sides will arrange the visit at a convenient time.-VNA
