An old stele dating back to the Nguyen dynasty (1802 – 1945) was recently uncovered near a hot spring in the Duong Hoa commune, Huong Thuy town, central Thua Thien Hue province.
The 1.5m high and 1m wide stele is carved with a poem written by King Thieu Tri (third emperor of the Nguyen dynasty), praising the beauty of the hot spring in the commune. It was located close to a former royal stop-over site where the king took a rest. This area was rated by the king as among the 20 most beautiful sites in Hue .
Phan Thanh Hai, director of Hue Relics Preservation Centre, said the stele will be preserved and displayed at the Hue Relics Museum.-VNA
