Quang Ninh requests registration of nearly 1,500 fishing vessels

Authorities of the northeastern coastal province of Quang Ninh has made public a list of 1,489 unregistered operating fishing vessels of at least 6 metres in length, with related instruction and registration activities now underway in a bid to tackle illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing.

Expert commends Vietnam’s efforts in IUU fishing combat

Vietnam has shown high determination in combating illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing to have the European Commission’s “yellow card” against its fisheries sector removed, with many achievements and positive changes recorded since 2017, commented Nguyen Anh Thu, a researcher of the Blue Security Fellowship programme at Australia’s La Trobe University.

Tien Giang reins in vessels, joining national IUU fishing combat

The Mekong Delta province of Tieng Giang has recorded no fishing boats infringing upon foreign waters since 2022 thanks to various solutions implemented by the locality, Director of the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Van Man has said.
