Hanoi (VNA) – The 2023 Vietnam VEX IQ National Robotics Championship willtake place in February, heard a press conference in Hanoi on December 6.
The event,which will be jointly organised by STEAM for Vietnam, the American Centres in Hanoiand Ho Chi Minh City, and Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST),aims to bring ten Vietnamese teams to compete at the world’s largest roboticscompetition: VEX Robotics World Championship 2023 in Dallas, Texas.
The 2023Vietnam VEX IQ National Robotics Championship consists of a primary studentgroup for students aged 12 and under, and a junior student group for studentsaged 15 and under. It hopes to attract 250 teams nationwide.
According toTran Viet Hung, STEAM for Vietnam Foundation co-founder, the championshipis a large-scale robotics tournament that helps students across the countryhave hands-on experiences in science, technology, engineering, and mathfurthering their learning outcomes. It is also expected to facilitate studentsdevelop necessary soft skills for the future, such as computational thinking,problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
“We aredelighted that students from all regions of Vietnam now have the opportunity tostudy and participate in challenges just like students from developed countriessuch as the United States. Our hope is that by participating in thistournament, Vietnamese students will gradually gain the essential skills andexperience necessary to be able to compete in the global market in the future,”Hung said.
As a co-hostof the 2023 National VEX IQ Robotics Championship, the American Centres inHanoi and Ho Chi Minh City will assist in organising seminars and specialisedtraining on robotics for the teams while HUST will coordinate with others in developing acurriculum to train students./.
