Hanoi (VNA) - The General Department of Vietnam Customs said onSeptember 14 that it had coordinated with competent forces to arrest 11suspects and seize 237 kg of different narcotics.
OnSeptember 8, 44-year-old Nguyen Thi Hong Ha, from Huong Son district innorth-central Ha Tinh province, was arrested at the Cau Tre internationalborder gate with 98 kg of synthetic drugs hidden in five wooden Buddhiststatues. The statues were imported from Laos and equipped with trackingdevices.
Expandingthe investigation, relevant forces detained six others in Ho Chi Minh City twodays later, seizing 19 bricks of heroin (each some 350 grams) and 22.5 kg ofsynthetic drugs.
Onthe same day, border guards in Ha Tinh cooperated with Lao police to capturefour other persons and seized 110 kg of methamphetamine hidden in six woodenBuddhist statues.
