
HCM City (VNA) – Forbes Vietnamheld a ceremony on August 23 to honour the 40 most valuable brands in Vietnamin 2018.
The total value of those companies isestimated at nearly 8.1 billion USD, an increase of about 50 percent comparedto the 2017 list. The surge is attributed to the robust growth of Vietnam’sstock market, which drives up the average price-earnings ratio in most sectors.
Consumer good businesses still dominatethis year’s list, meanwhile those in the finance-banking sector narrow the gap asmore commercial banks list their shares on the stock market.
Dairy giant Vinamilk maintains its topposition in the list, with an estimated brand value of 2.28 billion USD, muchhigher than the 1.7 billion USD last year. The company is followed bymilitary-run telecom firm Viettel with 1.39 billion USD.
State-owned Vietnam Posts andTelecommunications Group (VNPT) takes over third position from Vingroup,Vietnam's largest real estate company. With a value of 416 million USD, VNPT getsits name in the list for the first time.
The other brands in the top ten are thecountry’s biggest brewery Sabeco (393 million USD), Vinhomes, the residentialproperty arm of Vingroup (384 million USD), Vinaphone, one of Vietnam’s bigthree mobile operators and belonging to VNPT (308 million USD), Vingroup (307.2million USD), food and beverage producer Masan Consumer (238 million USD),Vietcombank (177.9 million USD), and tech giant FPT (169 million USD).
Vinhomes and Vinaphone are also newcomersin the list.
Forbes compiled the list by looking atbrands' incomes before and after tax based on their financial reports and dataon the stock market.-VNA
