The National Coal and Mineral Industries Group (Vinacomin) estimated that Vietnam has earned nearly 50 million USD from exporting 800,000 tonnes of coal in the first month this year, an increase of 17.1 percent in volume but down 22.9 percent in value from the same period last year.

Meanwhile, the amount of ore and minerals that the country imported in January has been estimated at 280,000 tonnes, worth 32 million USD.

China is still the biggest importer of Vietnamese coal, followed by the Republic of Korea and Japan .

According to Vinacomin, the world price of coal is still on a downtrend as supply surpasses demand.-VNA
