Hanoi (VNA) - Vietnam’s exports of agricultural, forestry, and fisheriesproducts grew 27.1 percent year-on-year to 3.49 billion USD in January.
Rubberwas the best performer in the opening month of the year, following on from itsuptrend last year and totalling 200,000 tonnes worth 321 million USD, increasesof 2.2-fold and 2.4-fold, respectively, year-on-year.
Shipmentsof key forestry products totalled 1.33 billion USD, up 47.8 percentyear-on-year. Exports of wood and timber products alone reached 1.25 billionUSD, up 48.4 percent.
Fisheriesexports rose 19.6 percent to about 600 million USD, following repeated declineslast year, especially after the outset of COVID-19.
Prawn exportsexperienced the highest growth last year among all fisheries items, up 11percent to 3.7 billion USD.
Severalmajor export earners, meanwhile, declined in January, including rice, fruit andvegetables, coffee, and pepper.
Thecountry exported around 280,000 tonnes of rice for 154 million USD in the month,down 29.5 percent and 20.2 percent, respectively, from a year earlier.
A similartrend was seen in fruit and vegetables, with shipments reaching just 260million USD, a year-on-year decline of 7.6 percent./.
