Air Mekong will temporarily suspend its operations next month to change aircraft and restructure its crew and personnel resources.
According to the English language daily Vietnam News, the private airline’s representative declined to reveal the exact time when the airline would resume its operations.
Air Mekong is the second private airline to stop providing commercial flights in the country. The first was Indochina Airlines, which had to stop flying just one year after its launch.
Air Mekong serviced 13 routes connecting nine destinations: Hanoi , Ho Chi Minh City , Vinh, Buon Me Thuot, Pleiku, Da Lat, Quy Nhon, Con Dao and Phu Quoc, using four Bombardier CRJ900 aircraft.
Previously, it had denied news that it delayed payments to the country’s main jet fuel supplier Vinapco, saying that it always fulfilled contractual terms audits and fuel payments were fully guaranteed.-VNA
