An ancient bronze bell, weighing over 200 kilograms, has been discovered in a field in Nhan Vu hamlet, Nguyen Trai Commune, An Thi District, in the northern province of Hung Yen.

Nhan Dan newspaper quoted sources from the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism as saying that initial examinations showed the bell was made during the Ly-Tran Dynasty.

The bell, 102 centimetres tall and 60 centimetres in diameter, was engraved with two Pulao Chinese dragons in its 20 centimetre long crown. Its body was carved with characters and exquisite patterns.

The provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism is currently studying the bell’s cultural and historical values.-VNA
