APEC economies aspire for high-quality human resources

So said Minister of Planning and Investment Bui Quang Vinh at a press conference in Hanoi on September 6, right after the 6th APEC Human Resources Development Ministerial Meeting concluded.

“This is an important foundation for APEC to maintain its growth momentum in the global economy,” he stressed.

According to Vinh, the meeting, themed “Promoting quality employment and strengthening people-to-people connectivity through human resources development”, issued a joint statement and adopt an action plan for 2015-2018 under which the APEC economies will base on common plans for future development.

The event focused on the main topic of improving the employment quality and connecting people via human resources development, besides the three sub-topics of supporting equal and sustainable growth, enhancing human resource quality to meet the demand of the supply chain and promoting labour mobility and skill development.

One of the APEC’s goals at this meeting was how to improve the quality of human resources, strengthen connectivity and facilitate labour mobility, the minister noted.

Like other economies, Vietnam defines human factor as one of the most important resources, he said, adding that improving workforce quality and facilitating connectivity among APEC members in the global value chain are the country’s top priorities in the coming time.

The meeting, co-hosted by the Ministry of Planning and Investment and the Ministry of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs, drew 200 delegates from the 21 APEC economies and international organisations.-VNA
