Vietnam is one of the non-traditional markets in Argentina’s farm products export expansion plan.
Argentina’s farm product exports to Vietnam rose sharply in the first months of 2012. The South American country exported 191,000 tonnes of animal and plant products to Vietnam worth 70.37 million USD in the first quarter of the year, year-on-year rises of 105 percent in volume and 71 percent in value.
The National Animal Health and Agrifood Quality Service of Argentina (SENASA) said the country exported soybean powder worth 28.8 million USD, maize worth 21.4 million USD, animal feed worth 4.9 million USD and shrimp, fish and cow’s milk worth 14.4 million USD to Vietnam.
In the meantime, Argentina imported Vietnamese pepper, coconuts, coffee, tea, saffron and farm products worth 3.2 million USD, a year-on-year increase of 117 percent in export revenue and a year-on-year drop of 12 percent in export volume./.
