Hanoi (VNA) – The 12th edition of the “Mau hoa do” (RedFlowers) art programme was held in Hanoi on July 25 evening, on the occasion of72nd War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day (July 27).

The event, attended by Politburo member andDeputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh, aimed to show gratitude to martyrs,wounded soldiers, heroic mothers and revolution contributors.

First held in 2008 by the Communist Partyof Vietnam Online Newspaper, the art programme’s organising board has canvassedsocial organisations, businesses and individuals to assist martyrs’ familiesand wounded soldiers, Vietnamese heroic mothers and revolution contributors.

Since then, more than 48 billion VND (2.07million USD) has been mobilized to present over 12,000 savings accounts, build over600 charitable houses, give thousands of gifts to wounded soldiers’ andmartyrs’ families, Vietnamese heroic mothers, revolution contributors,disadvantaged people and poor pupils across the country.

Within the framework of the event, theorganising board granted presents worth over 3 billion VND to the needy.

Participants in theprogramme were entertained with art performances highlighting the images ofVietnamese soldiers during the wartime, the sacrifices by heroic mothers andtouching stories on fierce battlefields.-VNA
