Phnom Penh (VNA) – The second ASEAN-China youth exchange visit opened in Siem Reap, Cambodia, on June 27 with the participation of 236 delegates representing young people from the 10 ASEAN member countries and China.
The Vietnamese delegation is headed by Bui Diem Huong, deputy head of the International Department of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee.
Soeung Rathchavy, Minister of State for Cambodia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, opened the event, emphasising the role and contribution of the youth as future leaders in the fields of political, social and economic development of each country.
The programme is among activities to mark the 25th anniversary of ASEAN-China dialogue relations.
Sar Sokha, Vice President of the Union of Youth Federation of Cambodia, said the exchange helps the youth of ASEAN and China understand and learn more about cooperation between the two sides in the fields of education and youth, thus contributing to boosting bilateral collaboration.
Addressing the event, Chinese Ambassador to ASEAN Xu Bu highlighted ASEAN-China cooperation and said the youth will play an important role in bringing ASEAN-China ties forward.
During the first day of the programme, Vietnamese delegates underscored contributions made by young people to the development of the country and the region, as well as connectivity in the present flat world.
