ASEAN rock & pop competition comes to HCM City

The ASEAN "Be Our Rock&Pop Soul" Music Competition 2015, will be held in Vietnam for the first time in early September.
The ASEAN "Be Our Rock&Pop Soul" Music Competition 2015, will be held in Vietnam for the first time in early September.

Presentedby Vietnam Music and Arts Education (VMA), in association with TrinityCollege, London, and Boom Box Entertainment, the musical event is aimedat youth under the age of 30 from six countries: Thailand, Singapore,Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei, and Vietnam.

The eligiblecontestants (soloists or bands) have to register and submit their videoentries, which will then be reviewed and selected by the judges for thesemi-final round on September 6.

The contest's four judges areSenior Vice-President of Trinity College, London, Asia Tyler Smith, CEOof record label BMBX Entertainment Kelly Chew, artist manager of Thaisinger Tata Young Myke Brown, and Vietnamese singer Thanh Bui, a judgeof Vietnam Idol 2015.

The winner of the music competition willreceive prizes worth up to 25,000 USD and other prizes from TrinityCollege and BMBX Entertainment. The final round will take place onSeptember 7 at the Opera House in HCM City.

Thanh Bui was in the top eight of the Australian Idol 2008 contest. He is now the principal of Soul Music Academy in HCM City.-VNA

Vietnam, Laos ink 2026–2030 culture-tourism cooperation plan

Both sides pointed to substantive, positive outcomes in cultural and tourism cooperation from 2021-2025, citing successful cultural weeks in each country, cultural and art activities marking important occasions of the two Parties and countries, and the effective delivery of agreements reached by leaders that further fostered the special Vietnam–Laos relationship.
