The 9 th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Transnational Crime (AMMTC) took place in Vientiane , the capital city of Laos , on September 17 to devise plans to enhance cooperation in combating transnational crime.
Minister of Public Security General Tran Dai Quang led a Vietnamese delegation to the event, which saw the attendance of Lao Prime Minister Thongsin Thammavong.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Lao Government leader affirmed that trans-national crime remains a challenge and threat to the regional and global peace, which cannot be stopped unilaterally by any country.
Therefore, cooperation among ASEAN member states in the field is of practical significance, not only protecting regional and international peace and stability but also reflecting their unity in this matter, he said.
Laos will work closely with other regional countries in the fight to ensure security and peaceful life for residents as well as peace, stability and development of ASEAN nations, he affirmed.-VNA
