The ASEAN Song, Dance and Music Festival 2017 began in a theatre in the northern province of Vinh Phuc on August 20 to celebrate the 50th founding anniversary of the association.

Vinh Phuc (VNA) – The ASEAN Song,Dance and Music Festival 2017 began in a theatre in the northern province ofVinh Phuc on August 20 to celebrate the 50th founding anniversary ofthe association.

The festival aims to improve people’sknowledge about the ASEAN Community and increase their awareness of developingthe community.

The event, which will last until August 24, featuresnearly 300 artists from seven ASEAN member states: Thailand, Cambodia,Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, the Philippines and Vietnam.

They will present nearly 80 performanceshighlighting each nation’s culture.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, DeputyMinister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Vuong Duy Bien said the event helpstighten solidarity between nations in the ASEAN Community and promotes eachnation’s culture.

Within the framework of the event,outstanding performances will be selected to entertain audience in Vinh Tuongdistrict and Phuc Yen town.
