The promotion of negotiations towards a code of conduct of parties in the East Sea (COC) will be discussed at the upcoming ASEAN Summit in Malaysia, said Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Le Hai Binh at a regular press conference on April 9.
Binh said the 26 th ASEAN Summit, scheduled to take place in Malaysia on April 26-27, will focus on issues such as the ASEAN Community and its post-2015 vision as well as the bloc’s centrality.
The event will appraise the impacts of the financial crisis, the sluggish recovery of regional economies and solutions for ASEAN countries to this problem.
Meanwhile, disaster management and climate change along with regional maritime and aviation security and safety issues will also be high on the agenda, he added.
As the 2015 chair of ASEAN, Malaysia has chosen the theme “Our People, Our Community, Our Vision” to drive the yearly agenda, reflecting its vision of a “people-centred ASEAN” throughout the chairmanship year.
