The Asia-Pacific Maritime (APM) exhibition, which is hailed as one of the region’s premier nautical events, kicked off in Singapore on March 19, showcasing the world’s latest technologies in shipbuilding and marine engineering.
The biennial exhibition has drawn over 1,500 exhibitors across 60 countries and territories who are displaying their new cutting-edge products, capable of improving operational efficiency and cutting costs.
A record 15,000 visitors are expected to join the three-day event, which drew about 13,000 participants in 2012.
2014 is forecast to be a good year for the global marine industry to further develop. Asia, especially Southeast Asian countries, will have a key role to play in fuelling such growth, experts said.
A number of forums will be held on the fringes of the event, supplying additional information about the sector’s development trends and other issues related to new and green technology.-VNA
