The Australian Government will spend 15 million AUD to set up a c entre focused on Indonesia, new Prime Minister Tony Abbott revealed during his official visit to Indonesia on September 30-October 1.

He said the centre is expected to promote greater understanding among Australians about Indonesia through the fields of business, culture, education, research and community connection.

It will also contribute to boosting bilateral relations at a higher level between the two countries, while fostering collaboration with Indonesian counterparts on research projects, he added.

According to Abbot, language and culture, food security, infrastructure, education and health will be among the themes for studies at the centre, which will be located at Monash University in Melbourne, with branches at Australian National University, the University of Melbourne and the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation.-VNA
