The Australian Government was willing to support and share its experience with Vietnam once the country joined the United Nations peacekeeping force and the Vietnam-Australia Defence Strategic Dialogue at deputy ministerial level.
The commitment was made by Australian Ambassador Allaster Cox at a meeting with Vietnamese Defence Minister General Phung Quang Thanh in Hanoi on Sept. 16.
Minister Thanh spoke highly of the ambassador’s contributions to boosting relations between the two countries as well as the bilateral defence cooperation.
He said he hoped that the diplomat would contribute more to strengthening the two countries’ defence ties in fields such as English teaching, army medical cooperation, exchange of delegations, and support in management facilities at Vietnam ’s border gates.
Thanh asked the ambassador to convey his invitation to the Australian Defence Minister to pay an official visit to Vietnam. /.
