The Hai Phong Customs Department in the northern port city of Hai Phong on April 18 completed the connection of all its sub-offices to the national automated customs system.

It is the first among the country’s 34 customs departments to have put into use the Vietnam Automated Cargo and Port Consolidated System/Vietnam Customs Information System (VNACCS/VCIS) at all its sub-offices.

According to the department, the system is working smoothly in Hai Phong since it officially became operational on April 1.

After a three-month trial period since November 15, 2013, up to 18,196 enterprises nationwide have registered to join the system, and 10,154 have run it on a trial basis.

VNACCS/VCIS, built at a cost of nearly 2.7 billion JPY (21.2 million USD) funded by the Japanese Government, is scheduled to be fully applied across Vietnam from June 1.-VNA
