Officials of the Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu and the Steering Committee for the Southwest Region held a meeting on August 11 with more than 200 religious dignitaries and representatives from ethnic groups in the province.
The meeting was intended to provide information on the history of Vietnam’s southern region and the Party’s and State’s policies on ethnic groups.
The government has implemented a number of programmes designed to facilitate socio-economic development and improve living standards in ethnic regions nationwide such as Programmes 134, 135 and 167.
Leaders of the Steering Committee urged ethnic groups in Bac Lieu to strengthen their solidarity to contribute to Bac Lieu’s development.
Bac Lieu is home to the three main ethnic groups of Kinh, Khmer and Hoa (Chinese ethnic).-VNA
