Best projects and scientists receive awards

The 2011 Vietnam Fund for Supporting Technological Creations (VIFOTEC) Awards and the World Intellectual Property Organisation’s (WIPO) Awards have been presented to 44 outstanding scientific and technological projects and inventors.
The 2011 Vietnam Fund for Supporting Technological Creations (VIFOTEC) Awards and the World Intellectual Property Organisation’s (WIPO) Awards have been presented to 44 outstanding scientific and technological projects and inventors.

The VIFOTEC Awards, including 4 first , 9 second, 13 third and 12 consolation prizes were given to 38 projects involved in mechanical engineering-automation, material technology, information technology, electronics, telecoms, bio-technology, eco-friendly technology, the use of natural resources, energy saving and new energies.

The WIPO’s best project award was presented to Nguyen Tan Dung from the National Power Transmission Corporation, for his research on ways of maintaining and preparing 500KV transformers.

The WIPO’s best female author prize went to Dr Nguyen Thi Loc from the Mekong Delta Rice Research Institute, while the company Fitohoocmon-Bifi earned the best enterprise award.

Other prizes, including best solution, best young investor and best female inventor were also announced.

11 enterprises were also presented with Vietnam ’s Intellectual Gold Cup, for applying intellectual property to their production.

Speaking at the awards ceremony in Hanoi on May 15 in Hanoi , Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan congratulated the winners and said that the scientists and their inventions, together with creative workers nationwide, will determine how the country develops.

The Deputy Prime Minister also presented certificates of merit to the authors of four projects that won the VIFOTEC first prize.-VNA
