Buenos Aires (VNA) – A delegation of Binh Duong province led by Vice Secretary of the provincial Party CommitteeNguyen Hoang Thao paid a working visit to Argentina on April 7-10 to explore investmentopportunities and expand business cooperation with localities and the businesscommunity of the South American country.

During a working session with representatives of Santa Feprovince, Thao briefed them Binh Duong's socio-economic development, affirming thesouthern province is ready to facilitate the connection with suitable partners, thus openingup opportunities to improve the efficiency of trade and investment cooperation.

Being home to 30 industrial parks with a total area of over12,700 ha, Binh Duong is one of the leading localities nationwide in attractingforeign direct investment (FDI), he noted.

For her part, Julieta De San Felix, Senior Advisor onInternational Cooperation and Regional Integration to the Governor of Santa Fe,said that Vietnam is the second largest international trade partner of the centrallocality.

She expressed her wish that Santa Fe will become Argentina's pioneerlocality in promoting multifaceted relationswith Vietnam and Binh Duong in particular, especially in investmentand trade.

The two sides agreed to coordinate in building programmes to promoteexchange of culture, tourism, science - technology, and education, people-to-peopleexchange, and experience sharing, thus creating a foundation for strongercooperation between the Vietnamese and Argentine localities.

They hoped that a Letter of Intent on enhancing bilateralcooperation between Binh Duong and Santa Fe will be signed soon.

During their stay, the delegation had meetings with representativesof the Southern Common Market (MERCOSUR) –ASEAN Chamber of Commerce, and Vietnamese Ambassador toArgentine Duong Quoc Thanh./.

Industrial production posts strong growth in first two months

According to the National Statistics Office (NSO) under the Ministry of Finance, the index of industrial production (IIP) in February was estimated to decrease 18.4% from the previous month but increase 1% year on year. Overall, in the January–February period, the IIP rose 10.4% compared with the same period last year.

Nghe An steps up reforms to attract FDI

In 2025, the provincial People’s Committee licensed 25 new FDI projects and approved capital adjustments for 20 others, bringing the total newly registered and additional investment to more than 1 billion USD. Many large-scale projects in the Southeast Nghe An Economic Zone have already become operational, contributing to export growth, state budget revenues and job creation.

The enterprises registered combined capital of about 313.7 trillion VND and more than 167,500 employees. Compared with the same period last year, the number of new businesses surged by 70.7%, while registered capital rose by 36.1% and registered labour increased by 19.1%.
